Seriously, that's what it seems like. I'll have a sore on my tongue and a fever blister and both of those cause radiating pain so it's not just raining, it's pouring. Now, I have 3 fewer students than I had in December.
*One student's mom called the day before lessons were to start and said they couldn't continue. She gave a bit of an apology for waiting so long so let me know. But no offer to pay for my loss of income.
*Another student just didn't show up at the first lesson. I usually hear from students' parents if they miss w/o letting me know beforehand. So, after I didn't hear from them, I emailed them and didn't hear back for 5 days! Finally, the mom emailed me and said, "I'll talk to Sally about taking lessons. She's kind of back and forth about taking." Then, another day or so later, she wrote and said they wouldn't be continuing. No apology for the late notice and no apology for the loss of my income!
*The last student on my list did the same as the above student but the mom didn't email me for almost 2 weeks! A bit of an apology for being so late with getting back with me but not much. Of course, she didn't feel bad that I had now lost 3 weeks of income.
So, I say all that to say that I must add to my studio policy the consequences for doing this, as well as quitting lessons in the middle of the semester. Of course, I have several "old" policies already printed, so I'll have to throw them away.
